Whitby Scheme is looking to recruit a Support Worker to join the team. 

Full-time - 36 hours per week 
Shifts: 8:00am - 8:00pm - Weekend work included.

Pay - £13.75 per hour

The Whitby Scheme is located across two sites in Whitby, a seaside town on the east coast of North Yorkshire. Our service offers residential support for 35 individuals with a range of mental health needs.

Across our facilities we are able to accommodate individuals who require male or female only settings. The service is also able to support individuals with secondary needs, including people who have a learning disability or are on the autism spectrum.

Our team are dedicated to supporting the people we care for to achieve their goals, improve their daily living skills and move into their own homes in the community when they are ready.


What you’ll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our residents wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. As a support worker, you will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents
 

Responsibilities 

  • Supporting with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and personal care
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes
  • Assistance and support to attend medical appointments
  • Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well-being, and quickly report any changes to senior staff
  • Encouragement to participate in social and recreational activities
  • Manage some behaviours that could be challenging

Qualifications and Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a caring nature
  • Empathy, understanding and patience
  • Ability to work on your own and as part of a team
  • Ability to understand and follow policies and procedure
  • The ability to anticipate and respond to challenges
  • Competent in verbal and written English
  • A healthcare qualification is desirable, but not essential
