Support Worker

Location: Priory Loughshore

Pay Rate: £12.30 + £1,000 welcome bonus 

Full-time & Part-time

Shifts: 6 am - 6 pm, 7 am -7 pm, 8 pm - 8 am, 10 am - 10 pm (full-time) & 2 pm - 8 pm and 6 pm - 12 am (part-time). Must be fully flexible to cover Days, Nights & Weekends.

Job Description

Your positive attitude and passion for providing high quality care and support will be your key strengths, but you'll also have a friendly, patient and positive approach to work. You should be keen to learn and show compassion to care for the people we support. 

You will provide support with day to day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living. As part of our team, you’ll help people reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives.

Our teams provide care and support for individuals with different conditions at Priory sites all across the UK. 

It would be ideal if you have previous experience gained in a similar role. However whilst this is valuable, we are looking for individuals who display the right values and behaviours in order to make a difference to people’s lives. Responsibilities 

• Supporting with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, meal preparation, eating and personal care
• Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming and changing bed clothes
• Assistance and support to attend medical appointments
• Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well-being, and quickly report any changes to senior staff
• Encouragement to participate in social and recreational activities

Qualifications and Skills

• Excellent interpersonal skills and a caring nature
• Empathy, understanding and patience
• Ability to work on your own and as part of a team
• Ability to understand and follow policies and procedure
• The ability to anticipate and respond to challenges
• Competent in verbal and written English
• A healthcare qualification is desirable, but not essential

Location information

Loughshore is located in the Jordanstown area of Belfast, on the County Antrim coastline. We are in a quiet area, off a main road, and surrounded by pleasant, private grounds, which our residents help to maintain. Our home offers residential support for 16 people with a primary learning disability diagnosis, people on the autism spectrum and those with behaviours that may challenge. People with physical health needs are also supported at the home. Our team are dedicated to supporting our residents to develop the skills needed for them to live a healthier and happy life.

All roles will be subject to a successful disclosure at an appropriate level from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), Access NI or Disclosure Scotland, and the cost of this will be covered by Priory.
